Non-Profit Identity Theft Resources and Services

At identitytheft.info, we believe everyone can protect themselves from identity theft by taking advantage of the information provided throughout our web site.  However, we recognize there are consumers who may prefer the convenience and assistance of using a for-profit or a non-profit business or agency offering professional identity theft prevention, protection and recovery services and products.  If you seek a for-profit business to assist you, please visit our For-Profit category.

Non-profit agencies have a long and distinguished record of offering education, assistance and services designed to protect consumers from identity theft or, if victimized, to assist them in recovering from the crime.  Just as Rob Douglas of identitytheft.info has been at the forefront of passing new laws to protect Americans from identity theft, several non-profits have also been leaders in championing state and federal legislation to further protect consumers.

While few, if any, non-profits offer identity theft products as the for-profit businesses do, the non-profits often offer self-help, education and free assistance the for-profits aren’t designed to provide.  There are a number of non-profits that offer varying degrees of assistance from identity theft education, to self-help instructions for victims, to actual one-on-one recovery assistance.

As with all consumer decisions, you should take the time to investigate the non-profit service you are interested in to be sure it actually accomplishes what you require.  There are circumstances where you may require legal services above and beyond what a non-profit offers.  So, carefully consider any non-profit service in light of your specific requirements.

The following non-profit agencies are presented for your consideration.  At identitytheft.info we are interested in your feedback about any agencies and their services listed here or those you have previously used.  Please share your experiences by emailing info@identitytheft.info.
